• The US and Taiwan laid a new plan called the US-Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade to deepen their trade relationship focusing on ending forced labor and “harmful non-market policies and practices”. The fresh blueprint is set to be a roadmap for negotiations in areas such as trade facilitation, regulatory practices, agriculture, anti-corruption, and supporting small businesses, US Trade Representative said.

• Germany's Economy Ministry has turned down four applications from Volkswagen for investment guarantees in China because of concerns over human rights violations in Xinjiang, Der Spiegel reported. "The human rights situation in Xinjiang has become worse in recent years and involves forced labor and mass internment of Uyghurs," the ministry said.
